Presented by Michael Rudas

This presentation will discuss a variety of downloadable, freely-available tool discs (CDs and DVDs) that can also be written to USB flash drives. They serve multiple purposes, from backup to repair to virus scanning; most are free. Most are Linux-based but are useful for both Linux- and Windows-based systems.

Michael Rudas is a long-time electronic and computer technician with experience with a broad variety of hardware and software. He is a free-software advocate and both a Linux and Microsoft Windows user. He is a member-at-large of the SEMCO board.

SIG-Linux Topic: My Favorite Linux Applications

Presented by Sharan Kalwani

You can do practically everything with a neat little Linux laptop, armed with just 4 GB and a low powered Intel processor and a small HDD. We will sweep through a variety of common tasks, playing music, video, managing PDF documents, recording videos off of your screen, even anti-virus and backing up! Plus we will touch on tons of nice little educational software as well.
